Paintings of the Nineties

From the beginning of the 1990s to the end of the millenium, Christa Walhof made a series of large-format paintings, partly as a retrospective of the past century. Photographs from old magazines and books, including old engravings from the 20th century, served as image templates. "...they are just symbolic images, metaphors for earlier mentalities, their existence you sometimes wonder about and try to get in balance, looking to the future..."
